Movie Review: Drag Me To Hell

I got to watch Drag Me To Hell last night at a screening. Like in every movie there was good things and bad things. If you have not watched it yet read at your own discretion. Spoilers will come up; meaning if you have yet to watch it you might want to stop reading about now.

Sam Raimi makes his return to the horror genre with his latest movie titled Drag Me To Hell. The movie's beginning is somehow comparable to the way all three Spider-Man movies beginning. This gave the movie a sense of feeling that meant it was a film by Sam Raimi. At the start of the movie we get a fairly quick introduction to the monster (like many horror movies), even though we never really get to see it through the entire movie.

People who are looking for a bloody/gory film will be disappointed. Drag Me To hell is more of a movie that seeks to make you jump on your seat as you say "ewww" with some comedy thrown into the mix. The suspenseful scenes weren't really that good but, the comedic scenes were good enough to balance out the movie. Overall the movie left more to be desired and Sam Raimi did do a better job here (comedy wise) than on Spider-man 3, though not by much. The first two Spider-Man movies were good so we know what Mr. Raimi is capable of and incapable of.

The old lady (look at picture) was the "monster" in this movie since she is used way more times as a way to frighten the audience. Her character gave the movie that special touch that helped the movie be better.

Is there an 'Alien' reboot/remake underway?!

Well if it wasn't bad enough (or good) that we'll see a reboot for Predator in July 2010 (with Robert Rodriguez already set to be a producer for the movie), we now get news that according to Bloody Disgusting it now appears that 20th Century Fox will either be rebooting Alien or making an origins movie. Many people will most likely be outraged about this especially the fans. These rumors also come with a few names with the likes of Ridley Scott, Tony Scott, and Michael Costigan; Carl Rinsch is the rumored to be director.

So what do you think, are these rumors true or false?
Will you be looking forward to the new Alien movie if rumors are true?

Don't be afraid to leave a comment and share your ideas.

Can 'Terminator Salvation' be terminated by a 'Night at the Museum'?

Both 'Terminator Salvation' and 'Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian' opened this weekend being the top two contestants for first place at the box office on this Memorial Day weekend. 'Terminator' opened on Thursday giving it a head start over 'Night at the Museum'. It also comes with a PG-13 rating that will help bring in teens; as opposed to the previous three installments in this successful franchise which were of an R rated nature. 'Night at the Museum' is a family movie with a PG rating. Being a three day holiday weekend also means that families will be going to the movies together meaning kids will have an impact. The fact that it will also be playing on IMAX might give this movie an edge over 'Terminator' .

Which of these two movies will prevail and take the number one spot this Memorial Day weekend?
Which movie will families decide over (a futuristic sci-fi action movie or a fun for all the family kind of movie)?

If you have a prediction sound off in a comment.

UPDATE: At the end of the day yesterday (May 24) the box office had 'Night at the Museum' in first place with $53.3 mil and 'Terminator' in second place with $43.0 mil.

UPDATE 2: The three day holiday weekend box office numbers are in.
'Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian' $70.0 mil
'Terminator Salvation' $53.8 mil
