BREAKING: Disney Bought Marvel Entertainment, Inc.

I would of never thought this would happen, not even in my craziest wildest dreams but, now we know that the Walt Disney Company has bought Marvel Entertainment, Inc. The news has come from a Disney press release over at MarketWatch. With this new deal Disney will acquire Marvel's more than 5,000 characters, while Marvel will gain Disney's massive marketing infrastructure. Disney will shell out the big amount of $4 billion to make Marvel a Walt Disney Company.

Robert A. Iger, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company said, "This transaction combines Marvel's strong global brand and world-renowned library of characters including Iron Man, Spider-Man, X-Men, Captain America, Fantastic Four and Thor with Disney's creative skills, unparalleled global portfolio of entertainment properties, and a business structure that maximizes the value of creative properties across multiple platforms and territories," followed by, "Ike Perlmutter and his team have done an impressive job of nurturing these properties and have created significant value. We are pleased to bring this talent and these great assets to Disney."

A big question here is, what will be the future of the upcoming Marvel films?

UPDATE: It appears that Disney won't be taking control over the upcoming Marvel films. Since these movies rights, such as, Spider-Man, Iron Man, The Avengers, and Thor are already in the hands of other studios. Disney does plan to eventually be the only Marvel film distributor.

UPDATE 2: Marvel and Pixar have already brainstormed some ideas and things went good. Should we take this to mean Pixar will be releasing a Marvel film soon?
